Bad actors demanding Bitcoin for shady stuff isn't new—that's been happening since the early days, just like criminals have always preferred gold, cash, or whatever's hardest to seize.
The difference here is scale and openness: a sovereign government is publicly running a Bitcoin tollbooth on the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most critical energy arteries.
