Well explain to me how Ukraine relates to the current crap show in Iran. I am all ears.
I’m probably going to get a few things muffed here but I think there are many “spines” in this deal.
Ukraine is at war with Russia. Ukraine’s land controls many of the BIG oil and gas pipelines to Europe. Some of them are still being used. Some pipelines blocked shut. Hungary solely needed Russian oil and Ukraine controls it. But, make no bones about it, Europe is in varying degrees of hunger for energy…..
If we believe that “oil is oil” and supply of oil really is all that matters to satisfy the world economy (whether traded in $usd or black market, bootlegged horse trading ways) then Iran is a tipping point to China (after losing “preferential access /pricing) to Venezuela oil and by default becomes an energy tipping point for Europe too. It’s not a titantic but it’s more than a fly on an elephants butt….
I think the bigger deal with Iran pursuing nuclear weapons (and lost on NAT after trying to follow these threads) is that a Nuclear Iran forces a Nuclear Saudi Arabia, a nuclear Kuwait, a nuclear Iraq,etc. —>> a nuclear Middle East. Biblical grievances and centuries of tribal warfare now have a “new” weapon to threaten, terrorize, and subdue countries/ethnicities that do NOT possess them. And, there has been a tendency that extremism knows NO bounds.
A nuclear Iran is not an Israel issue….. it is an all encompassing Middle East issue….. which IF Europe is watching and thinking, that is a destabilizing EU force that is titanic. What /who would EU choose sacrificial countries to gain access to Russian oil - Ukraine? |
