Exactly. It is very clear the current decisions being made are not being overtly influenced by popular opinion. Whether they are the proper decisions can be debated and their intended effect's and success will be borne out by history possibly decades from now. They are obviously being made without concern for re-election of the leader or the political party of said leader. It appears some feel that those decisions are improper solely based on midterm elections. I personally consider that to be a poor way to make decisions for a country and its citizens. If that is the path Lincoln would have taken we may have avoided a bloody war and the democrats would have retained their slaves. But it is entirely conceivable “kicking the can down the road” could have very well led to a bloodier war and/or a country that was irreparably damaged and split in two for perpetuity.
