Was Abraham Lincoln a piss poor leader because he couldn’t bring the north/south together? Was the divide between Democrats/Conservatives greater during Reagan or wider now between Socialists/Republicans during Trumps presidency? How do you bring a country together when one side is trying its hardest to fundamentally divide the country and capitulation is primarily one-sided? I don’t know the path forward. I don’t think there is even a prairie trail. I am not sure there is one that any leader could follow. Especially when those institutions that were originally designed to be impartial and unbiased have become sounding boards for their respective “side”.
