And that would make us no better than Russia taking the Crimea from Ukraine or if China was to take Taiwan. If we accomplished the goals as far as the threat to our security then we need to walk away and the Strait of Hormoz will open up as it is a vital source for many that will make it happen.
What you say is true, I have no doubt. Problem with it is the radical regime will remain in power. The difference though, is if we can strangle the lifeblood out of them by seizing their main source of revenue for an extended period, there is a high likelihood of regime collapse. If they can’t pay the military personnel, they have a big problem. Im confident if we could get someone in charge we can work with, we’d hand it back, unlike what Russia or China would do. Therein lies the difference. Edit too add; With all their oil revenue, they don’t need to build a bomb. They can buy a few from North Korea, whom I’m sure would gladly sell them a few. Now instead of at least buying us time before they can rebuild again, which a person would have to be pretty naive to think they won’t, they can have bombs as soon as we leave. Kim might even give them bombs. Let them do his dirty work.
