I second this. You need to add weight if you’re not hitting your depth target. 20/20 won’t fix that problem.

I have a 6 row 1750 Deere planter. Was having similar issues in notill. I found that with the heavy duty fown pressure springs, I could set a high downforce pressure but the parallel arms wouldnt run level anymore which means the springs were just lifting up the planter frame rather than pushing the units in the ground.

I found some weight brackets online that allow you to mount suitcase weights to the planter. Only put on 4 suitcase weights and that fixed my problem. I prefer mounting weight to the tool bar rather than the row unit, that way you can still use your springs to decrease pressure if the conditions allow. Otherwise the only way to lessen the down pressure is by removing the weight from the row unit again.
