| Why are you so worried about the price of E-85? You're not going to buy it no matter what.
Only 7-8% of the vehicles in the USA are flex fuel and E-85 only accounts for ~5% of the ethanol gallons sold in the US. By far, the majority of ethanol gallons are sold in E-10 followed by E-15.
What was the price spread between 87 octane E-10 vs 87 octane "no ethanol"? Those prices, in addition to an E-15 price, are the prices that matter for selling ethanol to the vast majority of Americans.
"Here", 87 Octane E-10 is usually around $.50-$.70 cheaper than 87 octane "no ethanol" and E-15 (88 Octane) is usually another $.20 cheaper.
So customers choosing E-15 save 70 to 90 cents per gallon vs 87 Octane "no ethanol". With little or no mileage decrease.
It's literally a "no brainer" decision but unfortunately there are a lot of consumers out there that literally have no brain and can't do critical thinking. They/you just blindly believe the lies and nonsense they've been told about ethanol.
