Kansas | First time I’ve asked a question in this forum
Dealer says they have an update program till end of May that I need to think about updating some screens and maybe receivers.
I run JD auto steer in 4 machines with 2600 screams.
My dealer said something about JD was no longer supporting 2600 screens and if one goes down I’d have problems.
Said Deere currently has an upgrade program to the latest greatest for the same money it would cost to get 2630 screens except there would be a yearly subscription fee. (I think that’s what he said, I’m not very good with understanding new technology)
I don’t want yearly fees!!
I use a JD 1890 air drill without sectional control, only need auto steer with ATU 300 and drill controller.
A JD 4920 sprayer with swath control, only need auto steer and section control. I use brown box for rate control.
JD auto steer in newer Massey swather
JD auto steer in case/ih 335 magnum when planting, only need auto steer, case planter uses pro 700
What should I be thinking about doing? How long will the 2630 be useable to me if I switch 2600’s over to 2630’s?
2026 will be first year using JD auto steer in the planting tractor. Before I used case/ih and didn’t like its user friendliness or the yearly fee for some accuracy. Would like enough accuracy to be able to plant between previous years rows even if I have to recenter from previous years AB line.
In the sprayer I keep pencil and paper records so I don’t need anything fancy. In the future might upgrade to a 4930 or 4940 sprayer.
What’s your recommendations?
Thanks!!
