E85 has become a fairly low volume product here in the States. Used to be a modest push for it and auto makers featured models that used it, but that seems to have faded away.

As a low volume mover, it costs more that something that sells high volume. That is the nature of marketing. The E85 costs less, but needs a bigger markup to make up for the lower sales volume.

Locally U88, or E15, is the good deal, at 20-50 cents less than regular gas. When you consider regular gas is E10, that extra 5% ethsnol shows quite a cost savings on your fuel bill.

In fact, are you sure it was E85 they were advertising, and not U88?
