Hennepin, IL | Like a lot of guys have said, youre not behind the 8 ball with those day 1 numbers. Id be curious when the rest emerge. 36-48 hours in cool April weather is different than 24 hours when its 80 degrees on Mother's day. Back to your issues, sprouting underground is usually either weather related (real cold and wet, not a lot you can do about that without knowing the future), or air pockets above the seed, meaning youre not getting the trench closed properly. Theres a few things that can cause that, mainly not enough prsssure on the closing wheels, not aggressive enough closing wheels, or too wide or too narrow spacing on the wheels. Too wide will close deep, around the seed with enough pressure, but can leave air pockets above, too narrow will close at the top of the trench, but leave a void right above the seed. | |
