Contacted a mobile phone repair place in Horsham [ an hour away - but we go there reasonably often] - guy there said "No worries - fix it in 1/2 an hour!" We took it to him, and for $35 all is good. [I have no idea of his process!! - but it worked.]
Samsung S23 and reset.
