Eastern NE KS | I have a yearling heifer in the replacement group that misses the easy meal every day because she slowly walks behind the group to the offered supplement. Well, she misses the first 3-4 minutes of the group chow-down. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with her except all winter she's the last to the breakfast and really not very interested in it to boot. Her mates come right along with the tractor, sometimes at a trot. Over the years, her maternal elders would come along with the group.
Not this girl. She was shy of the bunk in the weaning pen.
Have anyone worked with a heifer like this one and she became a good cow for you?
Do I dare bring her to the barn for some me time and hand feed or do I just give up because she has no obvious fault to cull her for the $2500+ salvage?
