Northern IN
Allis had a good following around here for many years. I don’t remember many 8000s but I remember several 7000s around when I was growing up. The local dealer closed up around the time they sold out to Deutz and over time most of the orange tractors got replaced with other colors.

I know when they were giving truck engines a try they had some running pretty hot, supposedly as high as 750 hp from what I have read. I knew a guy who got to run one back in the day in a Kenworth with a twin stick transmission. I don’t remember if it was a 5x4 or 6x4. I heard him tell a story of getting pulled over for running 115 mph loaded while racing another truck somewhere in Texas. The cop told him that he understands he needs to get freight delivered in a timely manner but he doesn’t need to run as he can go. My friend said “I wasn’t. I still had two more gears.”
