And yet when I’ve been to the coasts and points in between that are 1000’s of miles from an ethanol plant, I’ve seen similar price spreads.
It’s almost like ethanol is by far the cheapest source octane that is available to blend with sub grade gasoline to make it salable. Oh wait, that’s exactly what it is.
And that’s only comparing the spread and not accounting for the downward market pressure from adding 15 billions gallons of ethanol to the gas supply. Which could easily be another $.50 per gallon on top of the spread.
