| I also appreciate your openness on all the hedges you did a few weeks ago. I contracted 2 loads at 2.28, and market shot up 4 the next day about same time you did your hedges, glad I just priced 2 out of 4 loads for that group, not going to wait too long to finish pricing I think. If it went the other way you’d be feeling pretty grateful to be hedged with these high priced feeders. I have 6 loads of cattle going out yet this month priced when board was $1.93. 850s coming back in are costing me within 300 bucks a head of what I’ll get for fats. Really wanted to bug me the past year that I had contracted so many but they were still profitable,so now I just smile about it, if it had gone 40 bucks the other way I’d be in an uncomfortable position,the thing I hate is how much operating it takes. I plan to stay protected on every animal either with short term puts or packer contracts. | |
