NENE | It seems absurd to have to constantly defend ethanol on a farmer forum. Anyone who can argue that the drawbacks exceed the benefits for the country and especially rural America is either stupid, misinformed, or just jealous of the success of it. We are producing a lower cost cleaner burning higher octane fuel produced in the heartland of the USA providing expanded markets for farmers, good paying jobs and valuable byproducts while never needing the military to defend the production of it. I consider ethanol production in this country to be the single biggest success story for automotive fuel in recent history. Another thing that I failed to mention is most of the ethanol plants with the exception of a few big companies are owned at least partly by local investors who's profits help stimulate local economies instead of vanishing into big oil's pockets.
