All sides (actually very few) do not hate the ranchers.
Anyone with an open mind can see the ranchers deserve this for the years of just holding their own.
On this very site you have:
A grocery store owner blaming us cattlemen for high beef prices and beef he can't sell
Grain farmers complaining that corn and other feeds are too low
A few consumers here complaining that we are making too much
And the government being absolutely moronic as usual like they are now oil, meanwhile offering basically nothing compared to the rowcrop and small grains farmers.
----
If beef were to go down in the store, it would mean prices have crashed big time on our end.
If corn comes up above $5 that will seriously hurt cattle prices and severely hurt profit if they still exist.
And the president with his half thought out tweets tanking the market randomly while offering nothing in return, usually only damaging or threatening the dying industry that is cattle. Unless something changes, cattle will be like sheep before you know it, other markets dumping their garbage on the US, ruining the reputation of the product and making it all worthless in the process.
High cattle prices this time around has funded our expansion into row crops, because at $4.25 it is cheaper to grow corn than to buy feed(cake, pellets, etc) and any higher than that we can actually turn a profit growing corn for grain(hauling to town at current basis), which is interesting. |
