Subject: RE: Educate me on ethanol

There where 986 million acres farmed in 1990 (well before the ethanol boom). In 2020 (long past ethanol boom) there were 896 million acres farmed. In 1990 805 million acres were grazed in the U.S. In 2020 there were roughly 824 million acres grazed. This all according to the google machine.

So your premise that row crop subsidies 'stole' acres from grazing is false (as are most of your other premises). If ethanol had never came around, we would be producing so much other products that the crying could be heard on mars. If you think wheat barley and oats are cheap right now, imagine if ND, NE, KS and others weren't growing any corn...

Attacking a portion of your own industry because you think it is over-subsidized is just not smart. Attack the subsidy or better yet who gives out the subsidies if you must, but not the industry. Ethanol is a great product, and helps the entire agricultural ecosystem in America immensely (which includes you). Should the .gov have its fingers in it? Of course not, nor should it have its fingers in any other industries. That is a whole different battle.
