Sw mn | It’s the fact he’s been complaining about the packer for a month than tells about his packer contracts 6 months out.
The cattle aren’t only making $50 a head, they don’t weigh 1450 lb out the door and aren’t yielding 65.5 percent unless the guy is talking them off of food and water for a day. Which would be stupid. I just don’t buy it.
I think he has done packer contracts for the last 3 years in January on 90% of the inventory. Now has to buy high priced calves but didn’t sell high priced fats and has a sour taste in his mouth.
Maybe try 1/3 packer contracts, 1/3 on the cme and 1/3 open. When fall comes decide which group gets sold under each scenario. | |
