Fairbury, NE (Southeast) | Ethanol faces a few headwinds.
-Poorer mileage on e-85
This cand be addressed a few ways. Optimize fuel utilization including forced induction. 10%-20% larger fuel tank to maintain range. Price the fuel correctly.
-Distribution and marketing
e-85 is a stepchild in most service stations. The 5 different octanes on the e-85 pump is confusing to consumers. Pricing is very uneven.
e-30 is a fantastic fuel for most all engines. It's priced all over the board as well. The lack of a cohesive sales plan for ethanol pricing vs e10 is a significant issue imo.
-The push on electric depending on the administration.
Every fuel under the sun is subsidized. Gas since forever, ethanol, although more a usage percent than a actual subsidy lately. Finally the tax break on e-vehicles. The emphasis has been on electric, no doubt hurting the Ethanol industry.
