Contractors water pumps, compactors, jack hammers, boats. I mean, every lawn mower basically sits all winter. So as a percentage, I have no idea, but it's certainly more than none.
Nobody said it was none.
Would you venture a guess that it could be similar to other speciality uses of gasoline, maybe on par with avgas usage? Sure, there are way more lawnmowers and chain saws, but they don’t suck down 30 gallons per hour like some small planes can. Anyway, if occasional-use small engine gasoline consumption is anywhere near avgas volume, it’s less than 1.5% of American gasoline consumption. Should we shape public perception of a fuel based on the possibility of ill effects on such a small and specific usage? A few non-ethanol gas dispensers per town and accurate information about shelf life should be more than enough for the general public to use much higher ethanol blends without sacrificing their Husqvarna.
