I have an RPS setup too and it works great. This will be year 4 of using it I think. Mine pumps from a pond in the corner of the pasture up to a large tire tank in the middle of the pasture. I have rotational grazing paddocks that all wagon wheel away from the tank.
If the water isn't up to the sensor in the tank, the pump kicks on. Once it reaches the sensor, the pump kicks off. There is also a sensor on the pump to make sure it doesn't run dry. No batteries, no pressure tank. I did go with a larger tire tank so there's enough water holding capacity to make it through a couple of overcast days. The only downside is that it won't work in freezing weather as there is no way to install a pee valve with that type of setup. That wasn't an issue for me as I only have cattle in that pasture during the growing season anyway. | |
