Anyone have one of these either the 440 of the 540, how many of what size bales can you fit in them? Half looking at vertical mixer to try and cut down on hay waste and easier supplementation to improve condition on beef cows. Feeding mainly dry hay to beef cows, a little balage occasionally. Have tried a jaylor the dealer had, was well used and rebuilt and seemed to struggle a little with the dry balage we were trying it with. Took it back today got some rough numbers on new ones and he mentioned he had new vermeer vsr440 that was designed more for dry hay. Looked at it on the way out and kind of like the looks of it for our situation, but am concerned about the capacity of it, would like to be able to mix two 4x5 rounds together or at least two 4x4.5 rounds. Sounds like it would be a little cheaper than a jaylor but would also require more power on paper which I'm not sure about either. Probably best to see about a demo with it, sound like this is the first one the dealer has gotten in.
