The officiating was terrible. They could’ve called traveling and carrying the ball on almost every possession. Plus there were so many fouls that were not called. While I will admit that I watched the game last night, the way basketball is officiated now takes my interest in watching it away.
Back when I officiated HS/low level college, it was stressed BB is a contact sport and FB a collision sport. Don't call every contact, only one if there is an 'advantage'. And if you called a 'tight' game you might be there all night, because teams were not taught how to 'adjust' to the tightness of officiating. The travelling that's allowed today drives me nuts, I believe it started with the Michael Jordon rule - "if you dribble once after half court, while driving to the basket it's not traveling." |
