Subject: RE: John Deere steering

SW Iowa
I advise people who want to get the most out of John Deere Operations Center to go with G5 or gen4 monitor over a 2630. The 2630 is great if you want basic steering and mapping but the two newer monitors have a lot more capabilities for integrating with the data analysis side. Personally I think the G5 monitor is easier to navigate than the 2630. The AgraGPS receiver will allow you to use radio RTK every year if Wisconsin provides a free RTK network. The Deere 7500 receiver works good on SF1 for straight tracks but the signal does drift over the course of an hour or so. The 7500 receiver is also capable of SF-RTK which is the high accuracy signal from Deere with long term repeatability. This is mostly used for Deere AutoPath products, which allow you to follow the same guidance tracks from a previous operation with a second or third operation several months later. With a gen4 or G5 monitor you can record the location of the planter rows and follow the rows later when harvesting corn or spraying.
