Maybe because u.s. can flare gas?

I hate waste. In Canada, you cringe when you get gas with oil. Gotta do something with it.

Which means cleaning it up and boosting it——to maybe 1,000 psi——then put in pipe to deliver it for almost nothing—-

If in u.s,——if inconvienent, he’ll—just flare it off—-

Wrong as normal. The Bakken oil fields are required to capture 90%+ of the gas produced. Take a look at a historical price chart of natural gas prices, as the Bakken came online the price fell.
