| Everyone puts bulls in May 20th in the area. That way no early calves if any bulls comingled in your herd. Everyone runs registered bulls, no Herefords in the area. Blk angus, Sim-angus. Everyone trying to run 2 year olds, tough country for yearlings. Will run yearlings on heifers if left at home or pastures to breed up before turning them out. We don't pull bulls until September, because cattle all spread out in calving pastures for over 100,000 acres we brand every weekend in different areas. Plus every still has cattle at home ranches that we brand at as well. Everyone helps everyone to brand. Just make the phone call, and you got help.
All bulls in area get semen and trich test done in spring. Also bulls get shoulder brand for first year turn out so everyone in area knows how old a bull is at a glance. Run them for four years from year turned out. | |
