Subject: RE: Pluma Moos

Central Nebraska

Everything about that article reminds me of my community and family.  I have pluma moos once a year at a school fundraiser where they serve a massive german Mennonite meal of Verinike, plautz, ham and noodles, borscht, pluma moos, and everything else that might have been on the table in the "early days."  It seems you either love pluma moos or hate it. I love it.  My wife (not from the community) hate it.  She expected it to be hot the first time she at it and it is served cold!  I assume this article is referring to the Inman, Hesston, North Newton area of Kansas.  My grandfather on my mother's side who grew up there.  My mother's mother grew up in Freeman, SD, as did my father's father.  The ethnic meals differ slightly from one side of the family to the other.  My recollection is that Cherry moos was more popular in Kansas.  I've only had it a few times.  I might have a recipe in a community recipe book. I'll look sometime.
