Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | Notice that green and yellow are used for the signal lights. Looking at the connector from the back side (your second picture), the green is on the left and yellow on the right. I am reminded that this seems backwards from this view although it is correct.
Any old memory trick was that Green would be on the right side or "Grass". Yellow would be on the the left side or "Yellow marker for Do not Pass" but it is not that way but the opposite.
Brown is often tail lights. Red is almost always - Constant 12V or "hot". Black or White (in many Raven harnesses) is Ground. Pink (washed out red) is often a key switched 12V source.
I also find that with connectors of this type that using ferrules is a very good idea. Ferrules are the small metal bands which can be crimped on stranded wires to keep them together in a nice "package". That way when you tighten down the set screw it has something to bite into and doesn't spread the strands apart. These ferrules come in various sizes and are useful for AC wiring also.
Here's the kit I got from Amazon. The Chinese online outfits have them also.
