We did that back on my parents' farm when I was a kid. My brother had a horse, and we had a Shetland pony. My younger 2 sisters and I took turns with the pony and we ran Dad's cows up and down roads where we owned land and a little bit where it wasn't, but there was always fences on both sides. It worked out to get some extra grazing. I don't think I'd want to take the time to do that now.
