Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | I purchased a set of floater tires/wheels for my Hagie STS-12 earlier this Spring. We took a trailer to the selling parties place which happened to be near Clarion Iowa where the sprayer was made. He had a set of four that were take offs from an STS-16. I purchased them and he proceeded to load them on our trailer He had some type of tire/wheel handler on his tracked Deere Skid Steer that seemed to work very well. I had never seen one before. He said although it worked OK, it was built a bit light.
My Great Nephews borrowed some Emerson jacks from the local seed dealer to use for swapping the tires/wheels. The Hagie was parked inside my shop on concrete. They placed the jacks on the right side first. They tied banded some pieces of angle iron cut to length to keep the struts from extending as they raised the side of the sprayer. They moved each wheel in place with regular forks on their Gehl tracked skid steer.
Turns out the fenders needed to be removed at first since the outer edge of the "skinny tire" fenders would hit the floater tires due to their excess width. Later they were able to make some "spacers" to raise the fenders up and tilt inward which clear the floater tires. Hopefully the fenders can stay in this raised position when the skinny tires are reinstalled for row crop spraying.
Although the tire handler would be handy, using the skid steer to change them worked well for the swap.
