Subject: old swamp oak rings

southern michigan
had a huge old swamp oak die so I cut it down counting the rings I counted 214 years old. so if my math is correct that's puts it around 1814, the first 15 rings were small but countable , the next 20 or so rings were so small I had a hard time counting them. after that the rest of the 150 or so years were alot easier to count, there were bigger rings, and smaller rings. but you could still count them. so what happened in the early 1800s. this area was being settled mostly between the 1830s to the 1850s and at that time it would have been really swampy back there back been.
