Subject: Not disturbing the sensor and adhesive

Pittsburg, Kansas

That would work in addition to the adhesive that is already on the sensor. The adhesive is already part of the sensor and when you use the little tool to install it the adhesive on the sensor is what keeps it from moving and screwing up the little needle that goes into the skin.

I use a patch made for the sensors to cover the sensor which also has adhesive like a band-aid adhesive. So I actually am wearing two different adhesives. One on the sensor itself then another one on the cover patch I wear over the sensor.

And it is a good thing I have the patch over the sensor. The first time I tried a CGM a friend just put one of his on me. It worked great for about two days, even scuba diving under water (it picks up the memory of the sensor after I get out of the water). But at some point I bumped it or caught in a shirt sleeve or something because it quit working after a couple days. The one my wife had worked a full two weeks. If that tiny needle moves, the sensor senses an error and quits working, I presume. The adhesive is what keeps the sensor from moving. But catch it on something and it may fail. At least that was my one time experience.

So when I ordered ones for us I also got the cover patches to help keep them in place. Twice now in the last day and a half I have caught that area when taking off a T-shirt and thought "oh crap". But luckily the cover patch kept it in place and no problems so far.

Man I can not believe how my blood sugar varies. The difference between when I very first wake to a half hour later can make a 30 difference in my blood sugar. I never knew that using the finger prick method. Never knowing that it changed that much that quick (before eating anything) so WHEN I stuck my finger made a LOT of difference. But not only is the dawn effect much different between my wife and I, even just normal resting and moving makes my blood sugar vary a lot yet my wife's stays much flatter. So different people can respond differently.

I don't understand all I know yet but I sure am seeing some radical stuff concerning blood sugar. My wife on the other hand who is not diabetic, as long as she eats our low carb way of eating, is almost a flat line. And just a short blip even if she eats something with some carbs like onion rings.

I have encouragement we are going to learn some things from these new CGM's.
