| There are a lot of contributing factors. But in the end it is still about profitability. Cows haven't made enough money. Profit is what is left after expenses. For the most part there has been little attention payed to this. I grew up with cows that could produce fifty percent of their body weight and do it into their teens. Hay was all small bales and loose hay, so you thought long and hard before feeding it. Cows matched the resources, not throwing money at resources to match the cattle. That is a huge difference. | |
