Subject: Cloudbase RTK NTRIP modem for Deere-review

NW Iowa
I should have written this over the winter but hopefully better late than never if it helps anyone. Last year before planting, I bought a SF7500 with Cloudbase modem from Aaron @: https://buysellgps.com/products/john-deere-starfire%E2%84%A2-7500-un...
I had been using the local dealer RTK system since 2010. It worked well for the first few years until the closest 2 base stations were eliminated. The last few years my best connection was to a tower that was over 15 miles away. 95%+ of the time the signal was just fine. A few low areas with AB Curves where RTK-X kicked in were no longer reliable for autosteer. I don't have a good place to put my own permanent base station. After talking with Aaron a few times, I decided to cancel my RTK subscription and give Cloudbase a try. I traded in a SF6000 w/450 radio. Setup/signup wasn't bad with a little help. I used Simbase for sim card data--very cheap. I used it last spring for striptilling and planting and then on the combine last fall. All I can say is it worked great. I happen to be in an area with great cell reception and an Iowa CORS tower is very close. So far, very glad to have something that works well (better than the dealer RTK) without the $1,100 subscription or a $1,500 SF-RTK subscription. If you have good cell and CORS network signals in your area it might be something to consider. I have no affiliation with buysellgps.com, just offering a review.
