It depends greatly on just how hard your water is. I looked into it several years ago, what I was told is that a RO system isn't going to be worth it until your total hardness is over 250 PPM. Mine is only 200 PPM so I didn't go with it. I know of guys that are over 1000 PPM so it made a huge difference for them.
