SESD | Yup Ram trailer plugs are the, especially starting around the time they started installing them factory.....
There should be a rectangle plug on the back side of the 7 pin, assuming its factory trailer tow package. I would pop this off and inspect for corrosion on the pins, and if there is power. at this point I would buy a new OEM plug, etrailer should have em, or cut the plug a rewire. If it has a box plug there is T harnesses avaivle to plug in a the lower plug and run a second plug up without splicing, whether or not one was used is hard to say, defiantly where I would start looking
