From my experience, yes I think it would. Anything dissolved into the water source you’re using can be a hindrance to your chemical effectiveness, and hinder the plant absorption of whatever you’re trying to spray on the plant and get into the plant.

Acidifying the water to lessen the minerals in the water negative reactions to the added chemical, still doesn’t rid the water of the minerals dissolved into it. Again, could be hindering chemical effectiveness, and plant growth of what your not trying to kill.

Depending on you actual water makeup, running a softener and iron removal filter (if calcium and iron are present) ahead of the RO will go a long ways at increasing the efficiency of the RO system and prolong the RO membrane lifespan.

Depending on what your water makeup is now, a water softener and iron removal filter will probably get you a good jump in effectiveness alone over raw well water.
