Minnesota | You need to have high accuracy/highly repeatable GPS on both the unit that you use to record the boundary and they tractor that you expect to later utilize the boundary. If you have WAAS on one and RTK on the other, you'll never be any better than WAAS quality.
Yes, I have recorded guidance lines and field boundaries with a 372+pro700 on my 4 wheeler. I have RTK on the 372, When I started out, recorded an individual guidance line for each edge of the field and saved them. Later, as I got more sophisticated, I recorded the boundary for each field and made guidance lines off of the boundary. Just make sure that you have GPS offset correct for the vehicle that you use to record the boundary. The pro700 "field swath" function can generate headland passes for the boundary and you can also create an AB line from the boundary. There are decent videos on Youtube if you need some help on how to record the boundaries and generate guidance from the boundaries.
I have all of my boundaries and lines stored in SMS. I clear all of the fields/swaths/coverage from the pro700 prior to each season and load back my new boundaries, etc from SMS.
My planter tractor will always have the datum mismatch warning, which I continue to ignore. The guidance lines have always been where I expected. That tractor had the pro700 updated about 3 springs ago (whatever version that would have been). I never got the datum mismatch warning on that tractor before I updated and my other machines with older software and my combine (which had the latest software update last fall) never have a datum mismatch warning. I load exactly the same lines/boundaries on all machines. Apparently, there was something with one of the software versions that made it give the datum mismatch warning. | |
