I think 100 years from now modern medicine will look back at cholesterol lowering drugs...
and say, "the Mediterranean diet is one of the most effective and well-researched dietary approaches for lowering cholesterol. Studies consistently show it can lower "bad" (LDL) cholesterol while maintaining or even boosting "good" (HDL) cholesterol levels"
Oh, keep in mind the affluent tend to live longer now, and generations ago. What most likely is/was the common diet? A variety of foods.
