The industry is also into treatment more so than prevention or cure. Why is cholesterol almost the sole focus of heart disease? Because it is something they can "treat" with a pill. Insulin resistance and metabolic health is much more strongly associated with heart disease than cholesterol. Fix metabolic problems and much less likely to have heart or artery disease. But that mostly involves lifestyle changes. No money to be made there until the GLP1 drugs like Ozempic came along. So cholesterol has been the main focus. For a person who only has a hammer in the tool box, everything starts looking like a nail. 

Not all doctors. Mine is not a fan of statin drugs in general. He has his small independent office. But if any doctors are working for a big medical organization they have to follow protocol or they get in trouble.
