I have thought of those as well but seems like every time we get a smaller truck we end up regretting it. Always seem to need multiple trucks capable of towing something more than a lawnmower. Multiple seed tenders, fuel trailers, skid loaders, header trailers, goosenecks etc. Not all often enough to need diesel’s, but half tons just don’t seem to have a place around here.
My son currently has my brother’s hand me down 2012 Chevy 1500 that I can’t stand to drive. Between the cylinder shutoff features and smaller displacement engine to begin with it’s terrible to drive. Feels like it can’t get out of it’s own way, down shifting and revving the rpm on every hill even under cruise control on the interstate.
Plus it has also had lifter issues.
I’m going to get beat up here but it will be worth it
Don’t buy a Chevy for darn sure don’t buy a Hemi Ram1/2 ton I’ve owned many Chevy 1/2 tons only 2 Ram — though I’d get smarter after 1
Took most of my life BUY a Ford I love this truck— 23 with 55K miles use it like a 3/4 ton plenty of power — I pull a trailer often
8 cylinder gets 17 MPG but always loaded down
I’m ready for the Chevy and Ram owners to say how great their vehicle is
Dan
Add I am pretty hard on 1/2 ton trucks --every Chevy 50-60 K needed a transmission --Both Hemi Dodge lifters at 75-90K one Dodge Trans at 75K
I love driving and riding in a 1/2 ton truck --I expect to make 150-200K out of this Ford
