The drawback for me on these systems is what to do with or how to handle the gallons of straight chem in a 15' piece of 1" line that is sitting full once the tote is empty or I need to change out totes to another kind, say between corn /beans chem.

Not really an issue. 15 foot of one inch hose holds about 1/2 gallon not multiple gallons. If you want to clear the line you shut the valve at the shuttle, open the valve on the meter, then break the vacuum at the banjo coupler. As long as the transfer pump is running it will pull the majority of the product out. Since I know the hose holds around 1/2 a gallon, I subtract 1/2 gallon from the amount I need on the last load and clear the hose. Air will move the gears in the meter so you need to keep that in mind. You would probably want to have a few extra hoses around for products that can only go on one crop. Most of the time the empty tote just gets filled from another rather than removed so that limits cleaning out hoses to crop changes.
