I think the K shape economy is very much in play in the farming world. Some are hurting while others are thriving. These payments will just speed up the consolidation that much faster. I know of a local bankruptcy filing this winter from a fairly large operation so there is definitely some pain but then I see land sales that seem ridiculous at over double historical income multiples. With crop insurance, ARC/plc and direct payments the government has done everything to try supporting farmers to prevent the 80's again, meanwhile they are destroying the family farms. Leave it to the government to screw something up.
Not that I care, but government payments almost always come from printing money. I know they lie, and say that it comes from borrowing money, but that's only a half-truth. They do have to pay it back, but it also increases the money supply, and causes inflation.
