I used to have diesel pickups as "my" truck back nearing 15 years.The pickups I run now are mostly gasoline and used before I get them.A short block replacement for a GM 5.3 is darn cheap if it pukes at 150K.Put one in.Find a well cared for 100,000 mile ride with zero rust.Run her till the thing blows,change it out and run her another 100 thousand.For 5 grand and some time in the shop the $$ per mile is low as can be.
