If it is splash lubricated, running backwards can starve some parts of the pump for oil, at least on some pumps.
Then, you will need some kind of unloader, unless you are just going to have it pump all the time and blow the extra air out the relief valve. Better would be an unloader valve that also controls the throttle. Without an unloader it will also be nigh on impossible to start the engine when the tank has much pressure in it.


Noted. I was wondering how the electric unloaded valve worked compared to a gas and how differ?
