I did a compressor that had a 25 hp motor on it. I made it to PTO. The compressor had an arrow on pulley as to direction. It had an oil pressure gauge so it would not work turning the wrong way. If it turns wrong, turn one or the other around. A bigger compressor will have a provision to have it run but not produce air. Unloader valve.
