Subject: Gas vs diesel trucks for long term ownership

East Central Ia
We don’t seem to have great luck keeping gas trucks long term. It seems around 150k miles give or take and we have expensive lifter, cam shaft ect issues.

We keep trucks a long time, 10-15 years minimum.

My son is graduating college this spring and coming home to farm.

I am looking to get a different truck and hand mine down.

I am leery of a gas truck over the long haul but its crazy what this stuff costs now. It looks like a diesel is 10-11k more than a gasser.

I don’t need a diesel as we have several others for heavy work. Its mostly about longevity.

Will a newer gas engine hold up?

Talking about newer Ram 2500 trucks specifically.
