My flatbed trailer was bought new in 1998 by me. It gets an annual soaking with used motor oil on a hot August day. Trailer sets out all of the time. Other than the normal "war wounds" from use, the floor is original and good for many more years. It's important to do this on a very hot day so the wood opens up and absorbs the oil.
