Just went thru the same scenario. I was able to get a small hole drilled then went up a size at a time from there. It worked poorly but was able to get it to 3/8". Too many broken bits from using each size to wallow out the hole. Should have used a die grinder. Box builder said the use a torch but not sure about annual cutter.
